![]() Long story short: Get yourself a proper 8x8 USB Midi interface. The M-audio Midi-sport is okay once it works but I have had a lot of driver issues and wouldn't buy another one. The MOTU gear is still available new and works well for me although some people seem to have issues with them. They are awesome and hassle free and although they've been around for many years driver support is still uo-to-date (windows 7/8 圆4). The Edirols are not manufactured anymore but if you happen to find one second hand I would recommend them. I still use the midi-sport 4x4 but also have a Edirol UM880(8x8), UM550(5x5) and a MOTU 128 midi express (7x8). in the end I bought some more multi I/O midi interfaces and that works much better. That was a hassle and with multiple devices needing to share the same midi ports could give issues with latency and timing (midi clock). I used to have a M-audio midisport 4x4 and a couple of Midi patchbays (DMC and Kawai) to hook up all the synths and fx(I want everything permanently connected, both midi and audio). A better way would probably be to get an interface with some more midi ports so each synth can have it's own midi connection into the PC. ![]() You could get a cheap single port usb midi interface and hook that up to your patchbay and have a setup similar to what you used to have. ![]() Many, if not most, standard integrated soundcards don't have Midi connectors anymore. In the old days you probably used the standard Midi I/O of the soundcard (soundblaster maybe?) and hooked the patchbay up to that. The KMX MIDI central is a patchbay, not an interface.
